Climate Justice

The world is changing, our forests are burning, sea levels are rising and our cities are increasingly becoming over-burdened with unbearable heat waves. Climate change is here and Black folks need to be at the forefront of both the movement to create more sustainable solutions to protect our planet but also to address racialized wealth disparities via create entryways into the green economy.

The New Justice Project organizes around climate justice at federal, state and local levels led by Black Youth. We recognize that the climate movement has overwhelmingly been a space where white organizations and organizers have been looked at as leaders, but we also know that our communities bear the brunt of the issues that come with the coming climate crisis, we believe that it is at our duties to not only do the work to save our climate and protect our communities but to have solutions that center race and equity at the core of these solutions.

NJP is a part of the MN Green New Deal coalition, a statewide initiative to turn back the clock and reduce the harms of climate change, while making sure our communities benefit from the windfall of dollars that come with the rise of the Green Economy.
